4.       Develop list of colleges – keep organized

  • Gather information on colleges by visiting web-sites or making phone calls
  • Narrow choices
  • Visit the colleges on your short list (use handout “Questions for Visiting Colleges”)
  • Finalize your college list

5.       Apply – find out what you need

  • Applications (watch priority/early consideration and scholarships deadlines)
  • ACT/SAT scores
  • Transcripts
  • Letters of recommendation/Parent and Student Brag Sheets/Sr. Autobiographical Sketch/Resume’
  • Essays

6.       Look for Financial Aid

  • FAFSA – Federal  Application covering grants/loans/work-study (Submit by February to meet March/April deadlines)
  • Web-sites

7.       Decide

  • Compare awards letters/Consider entire package
